FINDING AND SAVING IMAGES:
1) If you have had students brainstorm using the bookmark as a tool to identify moments they would like to illustrate, then they have images in mind. They can:
a) create images, video or drawings to represent their moments
b) find images online for use in their video
2) Discuss how to use search terms. For example, a girl in a party dress might come up with just image search term: party dress. Identify a good source for finding images at school for those students who can not find their images at home. If they are finding images at home, show them how to find the right images in Google Images because they can sort for size. In the left hand corner of google image search, there is a pull down menu that students should use to narrow their search to large images. In this way, they will not pull up small images that will be pixelated when used in moviemaker.
3) Save images correctly. Students will try to save images to Word or Powerpoint. Those images can not be accessed and even though they have the address for the image, the source may be blocked in school, so you need them to learn how to save images to their flash drives, as follows:
a) Choose the image from the search and bring up the full size image comes up (as opposed to the search thumbnail )
b) on PC, right click the image and press SAVE AS. Save images as jpegs, jpgs, png or gifs. If the only option is a bmp, you can choose it, but often these are low resolution images. Save the image into an image folder on the flash drive or hard drive in school. Have them bring the images in and save to an image folder on the hard drive and download to moviemaker from there. Take them through this step, because they will try to shortcut and have difficulty later.
c) When you are in MovieMaker, you will be able to download the whole image list at one time.
